We are at a critical juncture where our knowledge and intelligence is at risk. The hypnotic demands being made on our attention, the polarized nature of civic discourse, as well as the growing sense that we are on the brink of a meta-crisis is partly due to our inability to see how our ways of knowing are short-sighted and have bound us to repetitive cycles of suffering. We lack a vision that can help us to use knowledge to embody space and time in ways that promote the growth of freedom.

In this course, we will engage in a new kind of inquiry, using Tarthang Tulku’s seminal book, Time, Space, and Knowledge: A New Vision of Reality. The focus will be on emergence and growth of “Great Knowledge”, what might be likened to “contentless wisdom”, or the unconditioned mind – the luminous knowing that is the ground of being. While many nondual spiritual traditions speak of this way of knowing and being, the TSK vision is unique as it does not rely on a foreign set of religious doctrines, beliefs, formal lineages, or rituals. Through a combination of critical inquiry and exploratory practices, we will directly engage Great Knowledge, access our natural intelligence, and embody an intrinsic freedom that can both heal and inspire ourselves and others. 

The course will utilize weekly readings, discussions and practice of exercises. This class will focus on the third section of Time, Space, and Knowledge. While this course follows a continuation of the Space and Time sections, this course is open to all.
